The point of the following article is that gun control activists (a.k.a gunophobics) believe that it is possible to reduce violent crime by eliminating civilian ownership of guns for the law-abiding. They believe that this can be done without eliminating the hundreds of thousands of gang members, drug cartel members, and thugs who would prey on an unarmed population. They believe that this can be done without creating the massive corruption that exists in Mexico. Generally they have no experience with guns but believe they have been anointed to dictate total prohibtion.   They are completely intolerant of the Second Amendment to the point of using any illegitimate means to denigrate it.  To these corruptible and dangerous idiots, the end justifies any means.  This contrasts with supporters of the Second Amendment who have no desire to force anyone to have a gun if they do not want one.
